For this meeting, a panel consisting of a Psychologist and two Family Lawyers will discuss their approaches. All three have advanced the concept of cultural and religious competency in divorce by recognizing, understanding, and integrating cultural and religious differences when assisting families going through the divorce and settlement process. We live in a cultural melting pot in Southern California. This event is not to be missed!

Gitu Bhatia, Psy D is a psychologist with extensive experience working with individuals, couples and families. Dr. Bhatia teaches cross-cultural psychological self-awareness, helping clients and other professionals understand that they have their own cultural view of the world that they bring into their work. Dr. Bhatia also works collaboratively, as a mediator and divorce coach.
Esther Macner, Esq., is a former New York trial attorney, Assistant District Attorney, divorce mediator, and founder and president of Get Jewish Divorce Justice (GJDJ), a non-profit organization in Los Angeles, whose mission is the prevention of ‘get’ (Jewish bill of divorce) abuse in the divorce process, through education, advocacy and counseling. Esther created a unique male/female co-mediation approach to address religious and cultural diversity in civil divorce.
Abbas Hadjian, Esq. is a reputable expert in Iranian Civil and Family Law and Procedure, and provided legal assistance on the Web and on television programs broadcast worldwide. Attorney Hadjian is the author of Divorce in California, a self-help divorce guide published in 2000; and is founder of the 4th Annual Cultural Competency All-Day Seminars that bring together attorneys, mediators, and therapists working in the field of divorce.
